MSC will extend its Piracy Risk Surcharge and Suez Canal Surcharge to additional destinations across the Mediterranean and North Africa. The carrier attributed the move to piracy risks around the Arabian Peninsula, which continue to affect vessel operations and transit routes. The following charges will apply from the proforma date of 19 October 2026 until further notice: Surcharge Amount Piracy Risk Surcharge US$55 per TEU Suez Canal Surcharge US$36 per TEU Combined charges US$91 per TEU The extension covers all cargo moving from Asia to Derince and Port Said West in the East Mediterranean. It also applies to the following destinations across North Africa, the West Mediterranean and the Adriatic: Agadir, Algiers, Alicante, Ancona, Annaba, Arrecife de Lanzarote, Augusta, Bar, Barcelona, Bari, Bejaia, Benghazi, Cagliari, Cartagena, Casablanca, Civitavecchia, Durrës, Fos-sur-Mer, Genoa, Gioia Tauro, Khoms, La Spezia, Las Palmas, Livorno, Malaga, Marsaxlokk, Misurata, Nador, Naples, Oran, Ploče, Pozzallo, Puerto del Rosario, Ravenna, Salerno, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Skikda, Palermo, Trapani, Tripoli, Tunis, Valencia and Venice.
