Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) has announced its unaudited financial results for the first quarter of FY2026, covering the three months ended 30 June 2026. Operating revenue increased by 17.1% to ¥286.842 billion from ¥244.918 billion in the same period last year. Operating income declined by 1.3% to ¥19.581 billion from ¥19.842 billion. Ordinary income rose by 10.9% to ¥24.046 billion, compared with ¥21.684 billion a year earlier. Profit attributable to owners of the parent declined by 21.9% to ¥23.394 billion from ¥29.947 billion. Earnings per share stood at ¥37.42, compared with ¥47.40 during the first quarter of the previous financial year. Dry bulk returns to profit K Line’s Dry Bulk segment recorded revenue of ¥90.361 billion, up 27.8% from ¥70.731 billion. The segment generated a profit of ¥9.008 billion, compared with a loss of ¥363 million a year earlier. Capesize rates remained firm, supported by active movements of iron ore, bauxite and other commodities. Rates for medium-sized and smaller vessels also increased. K Line attributed this trend to stronger coal transport demand linked to the Middle East situation and robust grain cargo volumes. The group focused on managing its market exposure, reducing operating costs and improving vessel efficiency. Energy transport revenue and profit increase The Energy Resource Transport segment generated revenue of ¥29.883 billion, representing an increase of 27.1% from ¥23.515 billion.
